Text that you type inside a text box control or inside a combo box control on a CommandBar object or on a CommandBarComboBox object is not accepted

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. In the Microsoft Visual Basic Editor, you create a CommandBar object or a CommandBarComboBox object. On the CommandBar object or on the CommandBarComboBox object, you type text inside a text box control or inside a combo box control. On the CommandBar object or on the CommandBarComboBox object, you click the button. Or you click anywhere outside the text box control or the combo box control. In this scenario, the entered text is not accepted.

Note This issue does not occur for combo box controls or edit controls in 2007 Microsoft Office system applications.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, press ENTER in the text box or in the combo box. Or, press TAB in the text box or in the combo box. Then, click the button in the CommandBar object or in the CommandBarComboBox object.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.
