You
try to connect to a remote fax printer on a computer
that is running Windows Vista Business or Windows Vista Enterprise. However,
the fax installation fails, and you receive an error.
This issue occurs because fax installation tries to install
the fax feature by using the Windows Components Wizard (Sysocmgr.exe).
By default, this fax feature is not installed in Windows Vista Business or in Windows Vista Enterprise.
To work around this issue, install the fax feature by using
Programs and Features in Control Panel. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, type programs and
features in the Start Search box, and then press
ENTER.
- Click Turn Windows features on or off,
click to select the Windows Fax and Scan check box, and then
click OK.
APPLIES TO
- Windows Vista Business
- Windows Vista Enterprise
- Windows Vista Enterprise 64-bit Edition
- Windows Vista Business 64-bit Edition

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
