Advertisements immediately rerun in SMS 2003 Advanced Client after you remove and then re-add the SMS 2003 Advanced Client to a collection

SYMPTOMS

You advertise a package that contains a program to a Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 Advanced Client. The SMS 2003 Advanced Client executes the advertisement and then installs the package. When you remove the SMS 2003 Advanced Client from a collection in SMS and then re-add the SMS 2003 Advanced Client to the same collection, the advertisement immediately reruns.

CAUSE

This issue occurs when the advertisement has at least one recurring schedule or when the advertisement contains multiple mandatory assignments. In this case, the advertisement is always set to rerun.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, do not create a recurring schedule for the advertisement or create multiple mandatory assignments for the advertisement.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.
