This article describes the Microsoft Office 2003 issue that is fixed in the Office 2003 post-Service Pack 2 hotfix package for the Italian thesaurus, for the Italian Multilingual User Interface (MUI), and for Microsoft Office 2003 Proofing Tools that is dated March 6, 2007.

Issue that the hotfix package fixes
This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
When you try to find a synonym for the word "contraddistingue" in Italian language text in an Office 2003 program, the program closes unexpectedly. Additionally, you may receive the following error message:
Microsoft Office program_name has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
This problem may also occur when you try to find a synonym for any form of the verb "contraddistinguere."
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.
