SYMPTOMS

You use a URL that contains an extra slash mark on a server that is running Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. For example, you use a URL that resembles http://localhost//. When you use the URL to open a Web page such as the SharePoint Server 2007 home page, the Web page may take longer to open than you expect. For example, the Web page may take two times as long to open when the URL contains the extra slash mark.

Note Typically, you would expect the URL to have one slash mark at the end of the URL. For example, you would expect the URL to resemble http://localhost/.

RESOLUTION

How to obtain the hotfix

This issue is fixed in the SharePoint Server 2007 Hotfix Package that is dated February 26, 2007.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, remove the extra slash mark before you visit the Web page.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
