Antigen 9.0 cannot retrieve scan jobs, and e-mail messages begin to queue up in an active/passive cluster environment

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use Microsoft Antigen 9.0 in an active/passive cluster environment, Antigen cannot retrieve scan jobs. Additionally, e-mail messages begin to queue up.

When you view the ProgramLog.txt log file, you see error messages that resemble the following error messages:
"ERROR: Unexpected, RetrieveScanJobIdentifier could not find the index"
"ERROR: Problems retrieving ScanJob identifier from RegisterMonitor"
"ERROR: Internal error 3-9, method returned 0x8000ffff"

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, submit a request to Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.
