Description of the Microsoft Windows registry
This article describes how to configure a manual scan job to continue scanning in Microsoft Antigen 9.0 for Exchange even after the scan job experiences a problem. To do this, you can configure the "ManualScanContinueOnFailed" registry entry.
This registry entry may benefit you in a scenario in which the manual scan job experiences a problem while it scans a file or a folder structure. If this registry entry is not set, the manual scan job exits when it experiences a problem with a file or when it experiences a problem parsing a folder structure.
To configure a manual scan job to continue scanning if it experiences a problem, follow these steps.
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sybari Software\Antigen for Exchange
- If the ManualScanContinueOnFailed registry entry does not appear in the details pane, you must create this registry entry. To do this, follow these steps:
- Right-click Antigen for Exchange, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
- In the New Value #1 box, type ManualScanContinueOnFailed, and then press ENTER.
- Right-click ManualScanContinueOnFailed, and then click Modify.
- Click Decimal, type 1 in the Value data box, and then click OK.
- Restart the AntigenService service. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
- At the command prompt, type net stop antigenservice && net start antigenservice, and then press ENTER.
