Hotfix installation information
You must apply this hotfix at the primary site and at secondary sites. Because of the architecture of SMS 2003, you must create a new package together with a new program to advertise this hotfix to the computers that are running the SMS 2003 Advanced Client.
When you apply this hotfix, the Setup program can automatically create the new package and the new program. We recommend that you use this new functionality to create the package and the program for the client computers that are running the SMS 2003 Advanced Client.
To install this hotfix, follow these steps:
- Obtain the hotfix package, and then run the self-extracting executable file to create the SMS2003-SP2-KB933870-X86-ENU.exe file.
- Copy the SMS2003-SP2-KB933870-X86-ENU.exe file to a folder on the SMS primary site server or on the secondary site server.
- Run the SMS2003-SP2-KB933870-X86-ENU.exe file on the SMS 2003 site server.
- After the files are copied to the computer, click Yes, I want to create a package and program now, and then click Next.
- Click Next to accept the default package name and the default program name. Then, click Next to accept the default package source location.
- Read and then copy all the instructions that appear on the page in the wizard, and then paste the instructions into a text editor, such as Notepad.
- Save the instructions by using a file name such as Instructions.txt.
- Click Next to create the package and the program, and then click Finish.
- Open the Instructions.txt file, and then follow the steps that appear in the text file to distribute the package that you created in step 8 to the computers that are running the SMS 2003 Advanced Client.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
