This article describes how to restore the display of drawing objects and of image objects in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 and in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003.

The following list contains examples of how drawing objects and image objects can be displayed incorrectly:

• The fill color, the line color, or the line size settings are incorrect for an AutoShape.
• The text wrapping for an AutoShape does not work.
• The brightness, the color, the size, or the contrast settings are incorrect for an image.
• An image is not displayed.
• The resolution of an image is too low.

How to restore the display of drawing objects

Drawing objects include shapes such as text boxes, AutoShapes, and WordArt. You can change the shape of AutoShapes and text boxes while maintaining the fill color or the line color.

When the display is incorrect for AutoShapes or for text boxes, change the AutoShape. To do this, follow these steps as appropriate for your version of PowerPoint.

In PowerPoint 2007

1. Open the presentation file that includes the drawing objects in PowerPoint 2007.
2. Click the target drawing object.
   
   Note If you want to select multiple objects, press and hold CTRL as you click the objects one by one. Alternatively, press CTRL+A to select all objects.
3. Under Drawing Tools, click the Format tab, and then click Edit Shape in the Insert Shapes group.
4. Point to Change shapes, and then click any shape from the available types of AutoShapes. For example, click a square.
   
   Note If you want to change the settings of the borders or of the fill color, right-click the object, and then click Format Shape.

In PowerPoint 2003

1. Open the presentation file that includes the drawing objects in PowerPoint 2003.
2. Click the target drawing object.
   
   Note If you want to select multiple objects, press and hold CTRL as you click the objects one by one. Alternatively, click CTRL+A to select all objects.
3. On the Drawing toolbar, click Draw, point to Change AutoShape, and then click any shape from the available types of shapes. For example, click a square on the Basic Shapes submenu.
   
   Note If you want to change the settings of the borders or of the fill color, right-click the object, and then click Format Shape.
   
   If the Drawing toolbar is not displayed, point to Toolbars on the View menu, and then click Drawing.

How to restore the display of image objects

Image objects include images that are inserted by using the Insert Picture command or the Paste command. When you click an image in a slide, you can use the picture tools to change the brightness of the image or contrast of the image.

When you click Reset Picture, all modifications that you applied are reset. These modifications include contrast, colors, brightness, borders, and sizes. If the inserted object is not displayed correctly, use the Reset Picture command to reset the inserted object.

In PowerPoint 2007

1. Open the presentation file that includes the image objects in PowerPoint 2007.
2. Click the target image object.
   
   Note If you want to select multiple objects, press and hold CTRL as you click the objects one by one. Alternatively, press CTRL+A to select all objects.
3. Under Drawing Tools, click the Format tab, and then click Reset Picture in the Adjust group.

In PowerPoint 2003

1. Open the presentation file that includes the image objects in PowerPoint 2003.
2. Click the target image object.
   
   Note If you want to select multiple objects, press and hold CTRL as you click the objects one by one. Alternatively, press CTRL+A to select all objects.
3. On the Picture toolbar, click Reset Picture.

Note The restoration of displayed objects in some presentation files may not be successful when you use the methods that this article describes. In this case, you must insert the drawing objects or the image objects again. Alternatively, you must re-create the drawing objects or the image objects.
