Cyrillic letters are not displayed correctly in Web forms when you use Internet Explorer 7
Consider the following scenario.
- You use Windows Internet Explorer 7 to visit a Web page.
- You try to type Cyrillic letters in a Web form.
In this scenario, special characters and numbers appear instead of Cyrillic letters. For example you may see the following entry instead of Cyrillic letters:
:::::;;;;;;?????444444>>>>
Note You experience this problem in English language-based Web pages. You also experience this problem in non-Latin language-based Web pages, such as Bulgarian language-based Web pages.
This problem occurs when the BitComet 0.84 program installs the BitComet Helper (BitCometBHO_1.1.2.7.dll) Internet Explorer 7 add-on. The BitComet Helper add-on prevents the correct use of Cyrillic letters.
Note BitComet 0.84 is a BitTorrent client program.
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
- Start Internet Explorer 7.
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
- Click the Programs tab, and then click Manage add-ons.
- In the Show drop-down list, click Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer.
- Click BitComet Helper, click Disable in the Settings area, and then click OK two times.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
