Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 includes an additional 300 bytes of data in the usage event log files
This article describes the additional 300 bytes of data in the Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 usage event log files.
In Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, an additional 300 bytes of data is included at the beginning of the usage event log files. This helps prevent malicious code from being inserted in the usage event log files.
The following string is included at the beginning of the additional 300 bytes of data:
"Windows SharePoint Services HTTP log file"
Note This string is followed by space characters.
You may want to configure the parsing tool to ignore the first 300 bytes of data if you use a parsing tool to do either of the following:
- Read the contents of the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 usage event log file.
- Query the contents of the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 usage event log file.
For more information about how to parse the usage event log files, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
