Error message when you try to uninstall Internet Explorer 7: "Setup cannot copy the file Ieeula.chm"
When you try to uninstall Windows Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP by using the
Add or Remove Programs item in Control Panel, you may receive the following error message:
Setup cannot copy the file Ieeula.chm
Additionally, you cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 7.
To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.
Method 1: Replace the Ieeula.chm file
If the Ieeula.chm is missing from the Windows/IE7 folder, replace the Ieeula.chm file by using the Ieeula.chm file in the Windows/Help folder. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, type %windir%\help in the Open box, and then click OK.
- Right-click the Ieeula.chm file, and then click Copy.
- Exit Windows Explorer.
- Click Start, type %windir%\IE7 in the Open box, and then click OK.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste.
Method 2: Restore Windows XP to the last known good state
Follow the steps in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article to restore Windows XP to the last known good state that existed before you tried to uninstall Internet Explorer 7:
