How to add a shipping charge to an invoice in Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting, in Microsoft Office Accounting Professional, or in Microsoft Office Accounting Express
This article describes how to add a shipping charge to an invoice in Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting, in Microsoft Office Accounting Express, or in Microsoft Office Accounting Professional. You can add a shipping charge by using an account or by using an item.
Method 1: By using an account
Create an account that you can use to add shipping charges
- On the Company menu, click New Account.
- Click the type of account that you want to use to add shipping charges, and then click OK.
- To create a new account, fill in the required fields, and then click Save and Close.
Create an invoice that includes a shipping charge
- On the Customer menu, point to New, and then click New Invoice.
- In the Customer name list, click the appropriate customer.
- In the Products and services pane, click Account in the Type list of the first column.
- In the Name column, click the new account that you created.
- In the Line Total column, type the amount that you want to charge for shipping.
- Click Save and Close.
Method 2: By using an item
Create an item that you can use to add shipping charges
- On the Customer menu, point to New, and then click New Item.
- Click either Non-Inventory or Service. This is the type of item that you want to use to add shipping charges.
- Click OK.
- To create a new item, fill in the required fields, and then click Save and Close.
Note If you have a standard amount that you want to charge for shipping, type this amount in the Sales Price field.
Create an invoice that includes a shipping charge
- On the Customer menu, point to New, and then click New Invoice.
- In the Customer name list, click the appropriate customer.
- In the Products and services pane, click Item in the Type list of the first column.
- In the Name column, click the new item that you created.
Note If you do not have a standard amount that you charge for shipping, you must type an amount in the Line Total column. - Click Save and Close.
