SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Office Project 2007 and in Microsoft Office Project 2003, the following commands on the Team menu may be unavailable:
  • Publish Changes
  • Refresh
  • Get Work Items
Additionally, you may receive the following error message when you click Choose Team Project on the Team menu:
TF82032: You have entered data into the following fields, which are used by Team Foundation and will be overwritten: pjTaskText10, pjTaskText23. Copy the content of these fields into another column.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the size of the property stream exceeds the 512 KB limit. When the size of the property stream exceeds the 512 KB limit, the custom properties are deleted from the file.

WORKAROUND

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.

To work around this problem, add the MaxPropsStreamSize registry entry as the DWORD type to the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common
Then, set the value of the MaxPropsStreamSize registry entry to 08000000.

Follow these steps, and then quit Registry Editor:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. Type MaxPropsStreamSize, and then press ENTER.
  5. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
  6. Type 08000000, and then click OK.
Note This registry entry changes the 512 KB limit to 128 MB. The 128 MB limit is the maximum limit that you can set. If you try to set a limit that is larger than 128 MB, the limit is set to 128 MB. Additionally, if you try to set a limit that is smaller than 512 KB, the limit is set to 512 KB.
