Consider the following scenario. You use the windowless SELECT control to create a list in Windows Internet Explorer 7. You use the mouse to open the list, and then you use the keyboard to select an item in the list. In this scenario, the item may not be selected.
Notes- This problem does not occur if you use the windowed SELECT control by changing the registry key.
- This problem does not occur if you do not use the mouse to open the list or to close the list.

After you apply this hotfix, you must enable this hotfix. To do this, follow these steps:
- Exit Internet Explorer 7.
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
- Locate the following registry subkey, and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
- Type FEATURE_COMBO_SUBMIT_ONCLOSE_KB936953, and then press ENTER.
- Click FEATURE_COMBO_SUBMIT_ONCLOSE_KB936953.
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type Iexplore.exe, and then press ENTER.
- Right-click Iexplore.exe, and then click Modify.
- In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.

- Right-click Iexplore.exe, and then click Modify.
- In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.
