The "Trust all installed add-ins and templates" setting in the Office Customization Tool does not change 2007 Office macro security settings

SYMPTOMS

You use the Microsoft Office Customization Tool (OCT) to enable the Trust all installed add-ins and templates setting in a 2007 Microsoft Office system or in Microsoft Office Project 2007. When you do this, the security settings for macros are not changed. This issue also occurs in the 2007 Office system ADM files when you enable the Trust all installed add-ins and templates setting.

CAUSE

The Trust all installed add-ins and templates setting is not functional in 2007 Office products. This issue is based on security behavior in earlier versions of Microsoft Office.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, you must control access to add-ins in the 2007 Office system.

For more information about how to control access to add-ins in the 2007 Office system, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Office/en-us/library/5b5835c3-8c7d-429a-b5b1-e3dd1fa9534b1033.mspx (http://technet2.microsoft.com/Office/en-us/library/5b5835c3-8c7d-429a-b5b1-e3dd1fa9534b1033.mspx)
This issue is corrected in an updated set of ADM and OPA files that are provided in the "2007 Office system Administrative Template files (ADM, ADMX, ADML) and Office Customization Tool version 2.0" package.

To use the updated OPA files in the Office Customization Tool, follow these steps:
  1. To download the "2007 Office system Administrative Template files (ADM, ADMX, ADML) and Office Customization Tool version 2.0" package, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=73d955c0-da87-4bc2-bbf6-260e700519a8 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=73d955c0-da87-4bc2-bbf6-260e700519a8)
  2. After you download the package, double-click the AdminTemplates.exe file to start the extraction, and then save the extracted files to a folder.
  3. Replace the Office installation CD\Admin folder with the Admin folder in the folder where you extract the files.
The OCT is available only in the volume license versions of the 2007 Office products. For more information about the OCT, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

For more information about how to use the updated ADM files, visit the following Web site:
