You run Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 on a multiprocessor computer. When you run an animation feature in a presentation, the animation feature may run much slower than when you run the animation feature on a single-processor computer.
To resolve this problem, install the PowerPoint 2003 post-Service Pack 3 hotfix package that is dated November 7, 2007. Then, add the DisableMultimediaPerformanceFix setting to the registry to enable the hotfix.

How to enable the hotfix

To enable this hotfix, follow these steps:
- Exit PowerPoint 2003.
- Start Registry Editor.
- In Windows Vista, click Start

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue. - In Windows XP, click Start, click Run,
type regedit, and then click
OK.
- Locate, and then click to select the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\PowerPoint\Options
- After you select the subkey that is specified in step 3, point to New on the Edit menu, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type DisableMultimediaPerformanceFix, and then press ENTER.
- Right-click DisableMultimediaPerformanceFix, and then click Modify.
- In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
- On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.
