No site usage data appears on the Site Usage Report page of a site after you enable usage analysis processing in Windows SharePoint Services 2.0
You enable usage analysis processing for Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Web sites. When you do this, you specify a location other than the default location in which to store the log files that log usage data. However, when you connect to the Site Usage Report page of a site, no site usage data is displayed for that site. Instead, you receive the following message:
A usage report is not available for this site. Usage processing may be disabled on
this server or the usage data for this site has not been processed yet.
You experience these symptoms even though some log files are created at the log file location that you specified.
This issue may occur if the STS_WPG group has insufficient permissions to the folder that you specified to store the log files. When you specify a log file location other than the default log file location, make sure that the STS_WPG group has at least Read, Write, and Update permissions to the folder.
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- Verify that the SharePoint Timer Service is started. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
- Determine whether the SharePoint Timer Service is started. If it is not started, start it. To do this, right-click SharePoint Timer Service, and then click Start.
- Assign the STS_WPG group at least Read, Write, and Update permissions to the folder that stores the log files. To do this, follow these steps:
- Start Windows Explorer, locate the folder, right-click it, and then click Sharing and Security.
- Click the Security tab.
- Add the STS_WPG group if the group is not already listed. To do this, click Add, type STS_WPG in the Enter the object names to select box, click Check Names to verify the name, and then click OK.
- In the Permissions for STS_WPG box, click to select the check boxes next to the permissions that you want to assign to the group under Allow, and then click OK.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
