You install Microsoft Office Access 2007 Developer Extensions on a computer that has Microsoft Office Access 2003 and either Microsoft Office Access 2007 or the Microsoft Office Access 2007 Runtime installed. When you switch between the different versions of Access, the
Access 2007 Developer Extensions command is missing from the Microsoft Office Button in Access 2007.
This problem occurs when the Access 2007 Developer Extensions COM add-in is disabled in Access 2007.
To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.
Method 1
Enable the Access 2007 Developer Extensions COM add-in. To do this, follow these steps:
- Start Access 2007.
- Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Access Options.
- Click Add-ins.
- In the Manage box, click COM Add-ins, and then click Go.
- In the COM Add-Ins dialog box, select the Microsoft Office Access Developer Extension COM Addin check box, and then click OK.
Note You must repeat these steps if you restart Access 2003 and then you restart Access 2007.
Method 2
- Start Access 2007.
- Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Access Options.
- Click Add-ins.
- In the Manage box, click Disabled Items, and then click Go.
- In the Disabled Items dialog box, click to select the Microsoft Office Access Developer Extension COM Addin check box, and then click Enable.
- Click Close, and then click OK.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
Microsoft Office 2007 Access Database Engine Conflict Resolver appears in the
COM Add-Ins dialog box. By default, this COM add-in is not selected. However, this COM add-in is automatically selected if the following conditions are true:
- You open an .mdb Access database file in Access 2007.
- The Access database file was created in a version of Access earlier than Access 2007.
- The replication functionality is implemented in the Access database file.
If you install Access 2007 and Access 2003 on the same computer,
#401 appears in the
COM Add-Ins dialog box. This COM add-in is the Access 2003 database engine conflict resolver. In Access 2007, this COM add-in should never be selected. You should not use this COM add-in in Access 2007.
You can install and use more than one version of Microsoft Office on a single computer. For example, you can install and use both the Microsoft 2007 Office suites and programs and Microsoft Office 2003 on the same computer. However, we do not recommend this.
Note Microsoft does not support using multiple versions of Office on versions of Microsoft Windows that have Terminal Services enabled. If you want to run multiple versions of Office, disable Terminal Services.
