When I use the SMS 2003 Operating System Deployment (OSD) Feature Pack to change an existing OSD image, an Error dialog box is displayed
You use the Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 Operating System Deployment (OSD) Feature Pack to change an existing OSD image. However, when you click
OK to save the changes, an empty
Error dialog box appears.
Note The
Error dialog box also appears when you try to use the New Operating System Package Wizard to create a new operating system deployment package.
Additionally, error messages that resemble the following are logged in the OSDNewProgramWizard.log file:

To fix this problem automatically, click the
Fix this problem
link. Then click
Run
in the
File Download
dialog box, and follow the steps in this wizard.
Note
This wizard may be in English only; however, the automatic fix also works for other language versions of Windows.
Note
If you are not on the computer that has the problem, you can save the automatic fix to a flash drive or a CD so that you can run it on the computer that has the problem.
Now go to the "
Did this fix the problem?" section.
This issue occurs because the MSXML .dll files are registered incorrectly. To resolve this issue, you must reregister the MSXML .dll files. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
- At the command prompt, move to the Windows\System32 folder.
- Type the following commands. Press ENTER after each command.
- regsvr32 msxml.dll
- regsvr32 msxml2.dll
- regsvr32 msxml3.dll
- regsvr32 msxml4.dll
