When I use the SMS 2003 Operating System Deployment (OSD) Feature Pack to change an existing OSD image, an Error dialog box is displayed

Error message description

You use the Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 Operating System Deployment (OSD) Feature Pack to change an existing OSD image. However, when you click OK to save the changes, an empty Error dialog box appears.

Note The Error dialog box also appears when you try to use the New Operating System Package Wizard to create a new operating system deployment package.

Additionally, error messages that resemble the following are logged in the OSDNewProgramWizard.log file:

Let me fix it myself

This issue occurs because the MSXML .dll files are registered incorrectly. To resolve this issue, you must reregister the MSXML .dll files. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
  2. At the command prompt, move to the Windows\System32 folder.
  3. Type the following commands. Press ENTER after each command.
    • regsvr32 msxml.dll
    • regsvr32 msxml2.dll
    • regsvr32 msxml3.dll
    • regsvr32 msxml4.dll
