You receive an error message when you send an invoice as e-mail or when you export to Excel in Accounting Professional or in Accounting Express
Symptom 1
When you send an invoice as e-mail to a customer, you receive the following error message:
Outlook 2003 or newer needs to be installed.
Symptom 2
When you export information to Microsoft Excel, you receive the following error message:
Excel must be installed in order to use this feature.
This problem may occur for one of the following reasons.
Cause 1
One of the following Microsoft Office programs is not installed on the computer:
- Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 or a later version of Outlook
- Microsoft Excel 2002 or a later version of Excel
See Resolution 1 in the "Resolution" section.
Cause 2
One of the programs that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section is not recognized on the computer. See Resolution 2 in the "Resolution" section.
Resolution 1
Verify that the required version of Outlook or of Excel is installed. To do this, follow these steps.
Notes- The following table shows the version of Outlook that is required, depending on the feature that you want to use.

Resolution 2
Repair the appropriate Office program. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
- Click the appropriate Microsoft Office program in the list of available programs.
Note The program that is listed depends on the following criteria:- The version of Office that is installed on the computer
- How the installation of Office was completed on the computer
- Click Change.
- Click the Repair option. Then, click Continue.
