You cannot use Add/Remove Programs on a Windows Server 2003-based computer to uninstall iSCSI Initiator after you install a service pack
Consider the following scenario. On a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer, you install Microsoft iSCSI Initiator version 2.04 or an earlier version. Then, you install a Windows Server 2003 service pack. In this scenario, you cannot use the
Add/Remove Programs item in Control Panel to uninstall iSCSI Initiator.
This issue occurs because the iSCSI Initiator installation package is installed as a hotfix. When a service pack is installed, the service pack removes the registry entries that allow for previous hotfix packages to be uninstalled.
Use one of the following options, as appropriate for your situation.
Option 1
To avoid this issue, uninstall iSCSI Initiator before you install the service pack. Then, reinstall iSCSI Initiator after the service pack is installed.
Option 2
To resolve this issue after it has already occurred, run the iSCSI Initiator uninstall program. To do this, type the following command at the command prompt, and then press ENTER:
%SYSTEMROOT%\$NtUninstalliscsi200$\spuninst\spuninst.exe

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
