Description of the support policy for versions of Office that are running in SoftGrid Application Virtualization

INTRODUCTION

This article describes best practices for using Microsoft SoftGrid Application Virtualization. This article also describes the support policy for versions of Microsoft Office that are running in SoftGrid Application Virtualization.

MORE INFORMATION

SoftGrid Application Virtualization is a virtualization program for applications. SoftGrid Application Virtualization is also an on-demand delivery platform that performs the following operations in the following sequence:
  • Creates an abstract of application dependencies from the operating system
  • Delivers the applications on demand
  • Runs the applications in a protected environment
When these operations occur, the Microsoft Windows operating system remains unchanged. This process significantly reduces conflicts between applications that are locally installed and applications that are virtualized.

We provide commercially reasonable efforts to enable versions of Office to run in a SoftGrid Application Virtualization environment. We recommend that you carefully test the virtualized Office versions to make sure that the virtualized Office versions correctly meet the needs and the expectations of the environment of your customers.

As a best practice, we recommend that you follow these steps:
  1. On the operating system, locally install the version of Office that you use primarily.
  2. Virtualize additional versions of Office by using SoftGrid Application Virtualization.
When you do this, the version coexistence issues of the applications are minimized.

We support virtualization of Office versions in SoftGrid Application Virtualization. However, we provide no additional support for individual Office versions beyond those support parameters that are outlined in the Office support policy.

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.

Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
