How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
You have many content areas in Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003. If you try to enumerate all the content areas by using the content area list Web part, multiple refreshes may be required to display all content areas.
Note This problem occurs when the number of content areas is more than 800.
How to obtain the hotfix
This issue is fixed in the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 post-Service Pack 3 Hotfix Package that is dated February 26, 2008. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

How to enable the hotfix
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
To enable this hotfix, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click to select the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SPSSearch\ContentIndexCommon
- After you select the subkey that is specified in step 2, point to New on the Edit menu, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type SecTrimSDCacheSize, and then press ENTER.
- Right-click SecTrimSDCacheSize, and then click Modify.
- In the Value data box, type 1024, and then click OK.
Note The default value for the SecTrimSDCacheSize setting is 1024. If the problem that is described in the "Symptoms" section continues, increase the SecTrimSDCacheSize setting. - On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
