The Antigen Internet Scan job times out, and the performance of the Exchange server decreases when you use Antigen 8.0 for Microsoft Exchange

SYMPTOMS

When you use Sybari Antigen 8.0 for Microsoft Exchange, you experience the following symptoms:
  • The Antigen Internet Scan job may time out.
  • The performance of the server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server decreases.
Additionally, the following entry is logged in the ProgramLog.txt file:
ERROR: AntigenInternet process returned 80010105 while processing message

CAUSE

This issue may be caused by a malformed incoming message in the message queue.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the updated Mimenavigator.dll file. To obtain this update, contact Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS). For information about how to contact CSS, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/contactussupport/?ws=support (http://support.microsoft.com/contactussupport/?ws=support)
After you receive the update, apply it to the computer that is running Antigen. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Exit the Antigen Enterprise Manager Console.
  2. In the Services snap-in, stop the following services:
    • AntigenService
    • IIS Admin Service
Note The IIS Admin Service will stop the following services:
    • FTP Publishing Service
    • HTTP SSL
    • Microsoft Exchange Routing Engine
    • Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP)
    • Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)
    • World Wide Web Publishing Service
  3. Move to the folder in which Antigen is installed. Typically, Antigen is installed in the following folder:
    Drive_Letter:\ Program Files\Sybari Software\Antigen for Exchange
  4. Rename the MimeNavigator.dll file. For example, rename the MimeNavigator.dll file to MimeNavigator.old.
  5. Copy the updated MimeNavigatior.dll file that you obtained from CSS to the Antigen installation folder that you opened in step 3.
  6. Restart the IIS Admin Service and the AntigenService.
  7. Restart any other services that were stopped.
  8. Exit the Services snap-in.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, disable SMTP scanning.

Caution When you disable SMTP scanning, Antigen will not detect spam or mail from Real-time Blackhole List (RBL) origins in SMTP mail. You must rely on real-time scanning to detect unwanted mail.
