Error message when you try to open a company file in Accounting Professional or in Accounting Express: "This shortcut points to a company that has been moved during upgrade or integration"
When you try to open a company file in Microsoft Office
Accounting Professional or in Microsoft Office Accounting Express,
you may receive the following error message:
This shortcut points
to a company that has been moved during upgrade or integration. Please use the
shortcut that was created when the company was moved or create a new shortcut
from the Data Tools.
This problem occurs after you use the
Integrate with Business Contact Manager command on the
Company menu in Accounting Professional or in Accounting Express. This problem occurs if you use the
Integrate with Business Contact Manager command to integrate the contacts in Microsoft Office Outlook and the contacts in the databases for Accounting Professional or for Accounting Express.
This problem occurs because the company file (.sbc) that you
tried to open is an old company file. The old company file was
created before you integrated the contacts. After you integrate the contacts by using the
Integrate with Business Contact Manager command, a new company file is created. However, the old company file
still exists.
To resolve this problem, delete
the old company file.
Then, open the new company file.
If
you cannot determine the company file
that you
should delete and the company file that you should open, delete all the company files. Next, create a new company file. Then, open the new company file. To do this, follow
these steps:
- Delete all the company files. To do this, follow these
steps:
- Locate the Companies folder. By default, the Companies
folder is located in the following path in Windows XP:
C:\Documents and
Settings\UserName\My Documents\Small Business
Accounting
By default, the Companies folder is located in the following path in Windows Vista:C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Small Business
Accounting
Note The UserName placeholder is a
placeholder for the actual user name. - Delete all the .sbc files in the Companies
folder.
- Create a new company file. To do this, follow these
steps:
- Click Start, point to All
Programs, point to Microsoft Office, point to
Microsoft Office Accounting <year> Tools, and then click
Data Tools.
- In the Microsoft Office Accounting Data
Utilities dialog box, click Rebuild.
- In the Rebuild Company File dialog
box, select the appropriate company database. Make sure that the company database that you select has one of the following version numbers:
- Click Rebuild.
- In the Select Company File dialog box,
type the company file name in the File name field,
and then
click Save.
- Open the company file that you created. To do this,
follow these steps:
- Start Accounting Professional or Accounting Express.
- On the File menu, click Open Company. Then, in the Select Company File dialog box, select the company file that you created in step 2.
