How to use the Accountant View feature in Accounting Professional or in Accounting Express to receive books on the same computer on which the books were created

INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to use the Accountant View feature to receive books on the same computer on which the books were created in Microsoft Office Accounting Professional or in Microsoft Office Accounting Express.

MORE INFORMATION

In Accounting Professional or in Accounting Express, you run the "send books" batch job to create an accountants transfer (.ate) file. To import the created accountants transfer (.ate) file on the same computer, you can receive the books by using the Accountant View feature.

To receive the books on the same computer by using the Accountant View feature, follow these steps:
  1. Start Accounting Professional or Accounting Express. To do this, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Office, point to Microsoft Office Accounting Tools, and then click Accountant's View.
  2. Click Receive Client Books.
  3. Select Receive Books Manually, and then click Next.
  4. In the Accountant Transfer: Receive dialog box, click Browse.
  5. Locate the accountants transfer (.ate) file that was created in Accounting Professional or in Accounting Express. Select this file, and then click Open.
  6. Click Next.
  7. If the data file is protected by a password, type the password in the Password field, and then click Next.
  8. In the Company file field, click Browse, and then select the location to save the company file.
  9. In the File name field, type a name that differs from the existing company name. For example, type a name that resembles the following:
    company_nameaccountantview.sbc
Note If you select the existing company (.sbc) file, the accountants transfer (.ate) file will overwrite the existing company database. All Accounting Professional or Accounting Express company data will be lost.
  10. Click Save.
  11. Click Import.
  12. Click Yes.
