This article describes how to install the 2007 Microsoft
Office servers Service Pack 1 (SP1) and 2007 Microsoft Office Server Language
Pack SP1.
To successfully install the 2007 Microsoft Office servers
Service Pack 1 (SP1) and 2007 Office Server Language Pack SP1, we recommend
that you read the following information about how to deploy server updates
before you upgrade to SP1.
The 2007 Office servers SP1
Before you install the 2007 Office servers SP1, be aware of the
following information:
- Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Service Pack 1
(SP1) must be installed.
- Before you can install the 2007 Office servers SP1, and
before you can complete the database upgrade, you must be logged on through an
account that has administrative permissions on the Web front-end servers.
Additionally, the account must meet one of the following requirements:
- The account must be an administrator
account.
- The account must have at least the Database Creator
role and the Security Administrator role.
Additionally, the account
must have database access to all the SharePoint Server databases on the
computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server.
- The upgrade process may take a long time depending on the
size of the farm and on the number of sites and databases. If you have a large
farm, you can try other options to minimize downtime when you deploy the
service pack. Thoroughly read the deployment documentation, and then review the
options as they apply to the environment.

2007 Microsoft Office Server Language Pack SP1 for SharePoint Server 2007
Before you install SharePoint Server 2007 Language Packs SP1, be
aware of the following information:
- You must first install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 SP1
and the 2007 Office servers SP1.
- If you have SharePoint Server 2007 and language packs
installed, you must install both Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Language Pack
SP1 and SharePoint Server 2007 Language Packs SP1. Before you install
SharePoint Server 2007 Language Packs SP1, we recommended that you install
Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Language Pack SP1.
