SYMPTOMS

A Systems Management Server (SMS) Operating System Deployment (OSD) Feature Pack Update was released after Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 Service Pack 3 to add OSD functionality for Windows Vista clients. This OSD Feature Pack Update package contains the outdated Windows Vista Beta 2 version of the Wimgapi.dll file.

The Wimgapi.dll file is the library that implements the Windows Imaging API. No changes have been made to the structure of the Wimgapi.dll file between Windows Vista Beta 2 and the release version of Windows Vista. However, you may experience performance issues, especially when you deploy an image to a destination computer.

RESOLUTION

This hotfix updates the existing version of the Wimgapi.dll file that the SMS OSD Feature Pack uses to the version of the Vimgapi.dll file that was included in the release version of Windows Vista.

Note The version of the Wimgapi.dll file that is included in the SMS OSD Feature Pack Update package is 6.0.5384.4 (winmain_beta2.060518-1455). The version of the Wimgapi.dll file that is included in this hotfix is 6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101-2205).
