More information about this security update

Known issues

  • This security update updates the Office Web Components (OWC) primary interop assembly to use a new control ID. If you are using the primary interop assembly in a solution, you must install this update and then rebuild your solution to use the new primary interop assembly and control ID.
  • If you have updated a computer that had Microsoft FrontPage 2002 or Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003 installed to the 2007 Microsoft Office system, and you did not remove FrontPage, FrontPage may still be installed. FrontPage includes the OWC. Therefore, a computer that was updated in this manner may still have the OWC installed, and this security update will apply.

You can verify the installed products by using the Add or Remove Programs item in Windows XP or by using the Programs and Features item in Windows Vista and in Windows 7. You may not see the Office Web Components listed as installed. However, if FrontPage is listed, the Office Web Components may be installed, and this security update may apply.

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other.
