Support has ended for MDAC 2.7 Service Pack 1 and MDAC 2.8

SUMMARY

Microsoft will end all support for Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and MDAC 2.8 according to the policies that are defined by the Microsoft Support Lifecycle.

MORE INFORMATION

MDAC 2.7 SP1 was included with Windows XP SP1, Microsoft SQL Server 2000 SP3, and Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003. Support for MDAC 2.7 SP1 ended on July 10, 2007 when support for SQL Server 2000 SP3 ended.

MDAC 2.8 was included with Windows Server 2003. Support for MDAC 2.8 ended on April 10, 2007.

To continue receiving updates and support for MDAC, we recommend that you upgrade to MDAC 2.8 SP1 or a later version.

For Windows Server 2000 SP4 users, we recommend that you upgrade to the latest release, MDAC 2.8 SP1.

For Windows Server 2003 users, we recommend that you upgrade to the latest service pack for Windows Server 2003. This includes an upgrade of MDAC to MDAC 2.8 SP2. There is no redistributable installer for this version of MDAC.

For Windows XP users, we recommend that you upgrade to the latest service pack, Windows XP SP3.

Note The redistributable installer for MDAC 2.8 SP1 installs the same Data Access components as Windows XP SP2. This upgrade is intended only for customers who are using operating systems that are earlier than Windows XP.

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.
