When you log on to a Windows-based computer that has Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 installed, you receive an error message that resembles the following error message:
Cannot sign-in to Communications Service because the server is temporarily unavailable. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.
This issue occurs when the following conditions are true:
- You are using Communicator 2005 version 1.0.559.224, or a later version.
- Communicator 2005 is configured as follows:
- The Automatically run Communicator when I log on to Windows check box is selected.
- The Automatically open the main window when Communicator
starts check box is selected.
- Connectivity to a Microsoft Office Live Communications Server computer has not been established.
You do not expect this error message. In earlier versions of Communicator 2005, in the same scenario, a red X appears on the Communicator icon in the notification area.
Note Communicator cannot sign in unless connection to a Live Communication Server computer is established. However, the error message may cause users to request support when it is not needed.
