The Client Monitoring Configuration Wizard fails with an unknown error that occurs together with the 80FF002B code when you enable the client monitoring feature in System Center Operations Manager

SYMPTOMS

When you try to enable the client monitoring feature in Microsoft System Center Operations Manager, the Client Monitoring Configuration Wizard fails with an unknown error. This error occurs together with the 80FF002B code.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Client Monitoring Configuration Wizard reuses an existing file share for client monitoring.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, let the Client Monitoring Configuration Wizard create a new share. Then, copy the contents of the old share to the new share.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
