Some fields may contain XML tags instead of actual values when you export a document to Word from Accounting Express or from Accounting Professional

On This Page

SYMPTOMS

When you export a document to Microsoft Office Word from Microsoft Office Accounting Express or from Microsoft Office Accounting Professional, some fields may contain XML tags instead of actual values in the exported document. For example, the Balance Due field in an exported document may display "[Balance]" instead of a balance amount.

This problem occurs if you installed Accounting Express 2007 or Accounting Professional 2007 after you installed later versions of Accounting Express or of Accounting Professional.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the existing Accounting Express or Accounting Professional XML schema is overwritten by the Accounting Express 2007 or Accounting Professional 2007 XML schema during installation of Accounting Express 2007 or of Accounting Professional 2007.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, use the one of the following methods.

Method 1: If you no longer use Accounting Express 2007 or Accounting Professional 2007, remove Accounting Express 2007 or Accounting Professional 2007

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Uninstall Accounting Express 2007 or Accounting Professional 2007.
  2. Repair the later version of Accounting Express or Accounting Professional that you are using.

Method 2: If you still use Accounting Express 2007 or Accounting Professional 2007, uninstall and then reinstall the later version of Accounting Express or Accounting Professional

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Create a backup of the company in the later version of Accounting Express or of Accounting Professional. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Open the company in the later version of Accounting Express or of Accounting Professional.
    2. On the File menu, point to Utilities, and then click Data Utilities.
    3. Click Backup.
    4. Click Browse.
    5. Click Desktop.
    6. Click Save.
    7. Click OK.
  2. Uninstall the later version of Accounting Express or Accounting Professional. For more information about how to do this, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
