How to use the new Turkish lira symbol (YTL) in Project 2007

INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to use the new Turkish lira symbol (YTL) in Microsoft Office Project 2007.

MORE INFORMATION

To use the YTL symbol in Project 2007, use one of the following methods.

Note Windows Vista automatically handles this currency change. Therefore, you do not have to follow these steps on a Windows Vista-based computer.

Method 1

  1. Install the Microsoft Turkish Lira Currency Symbol Converter tool. To obtain the tool, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=f00783c1-ad7c-47e0-ae98-4104088eabf2 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=f00783c1-ad7c-47e0-ae98-4104088eabf2)
  2. Start Project 2007.
  3. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  4. Click the View tab.
  5. Under Currency options for 'Project1', click TRL in the Currency list. The currency symbol should change to YTL.
  6. Click OK to save the change.
  7. When you publish projects to Microsoft Office Project Server 2007, make sure that the default currency settings are chosen. To do this on the computer that is running Project Server 2007, click Additional Server Settings on the Server Settings page, and then make sure that the Allow Projects to be published in various currencies option is enabled.

Method 2

  1. Install the Microsoft Turkish Lira Currency Symbol Converter tool. To obtain the tool, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=f00783c1-ad7c-47e0-ae98-4104088eabf2 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=f00783c1-ad7c-47e0-ae98-4104088eabf2)
  2. Start Project 2007.
  3. On the Tools menu, point to Enterprise Options, and then click Open Enterprise Global.
  4. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  5. Click the View tab.
  6. Under Currency options for 'Project1', select TRL in the Currency list. The currency symbol should then change to YTL.
  7. Click OK to save the change.
  8. Save the enterprise global.
Note If you change your regional settings, you must rerun the Microsoft Turkish Lira Currency Symbol tool. Projects that were already created will maintain the YTL symbol even if you change your regional settings.
