How to create a Windows Firewall outbound exception rule for the Remote Access Quarantine Agent service in Windows Server 2008
This article describes how to create an outbound exception rule for the remote access server listener component in Windows Server 2008. In Windows Server 2008, the remote access server listener component is the Remote Access Quarantine Agent service.
In Windows Server 2008, the Remote Access Quarantine Agent service restricts remote access clients from obtaining full access to a network until they meet the requirements of the network.
By default, there is a Windows Firewall inbound rule for the Remote Access Quarantine Agent service to enable traffic on TCP port 7250.
However, you can configure other TCP ports for the Remote Access Quarantine Agent service. There is no outbound exception rule for the Remote Access Quarantine Agent service.
To create an outbound exception rule in Windows Firewall for the default TCP port 7250 or in the configured TCP port, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Windows Firewall, and then click Change settings.
- Click the Exceptions tab, and then click Add port.
- In the Name field, type RQS Agent name.
- In the Port number field, type 7250 or the port number that is configured for the Remote Access Quarantine Agent service.
- In the Protocol area, select TCP, and then click OK two times.
APPLIES TO
- Windows Server 2008 Datacenter
- Windows Server 2008 Enterprise
- Windows Server 2008 Standard

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
