The SiteDefinitionInfo rule in Pre-Upgrade Checker for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Service Pack 2 lists information about site definition templates

INTRODUCTION

The SiteDefinitionInfo rule in Pre-Upgrade Checker for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Service Pack 2 lists information about site definition templates.

MORE INFORMATION

The SiteDefinitionInfo rule lists information about site definition templates. Then, the SiteDefinitionInfo rule scans the content databases for site collections that reference these site definitions. The output of the SiteDefinitionInfo rule lists the following attributes for each site definition template:
  • Template name
  • Template id
  • Language id
  • Number of references
The output of the SiteDefinitionInfo rule resembles the following:
The following site definition based templates are either installed on this farm or referenced by the content:
[For Each Site Definition Template]
name = [Template Name], language = [Language Id], template id = [Template Id], count = [Reference Count], status = [Template Status (Unknown, Internal, Installed, Missing)]

Install the missing site definitions in order for the content to be displayed and upgraded correctly. After upgrading the current farm to the new version of sharepoint, any sites that use one of the internal site definitions will be upgraded if necessary. Custom site definitions will need to be upgraded using a Upgrade Definition File. For more information about this rule, see KB article 954761 in the rule article list at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=120257
After you upgrade the current SharePoint server farm to a new version of Windows SharePoint Services, any Windows SharePoint Services sites that use one of the internal site templates will use a new version of the template.

Note Pre-Upgrade Checker ships in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Service Pack 2. Pre-Upgrade Checker is used to assess the server for potential upgrade issues when you are preparing to upgrade to the next version release of Windows SharePoint Services and of SharePoint Server 2007.

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.
