The PendingUpgrade rule in Pre-Upgrade Checker in Windows
SharePoint Services 3.0 Service Pack 2 warns that the gradual upgrade of a farm
is not yet completed.
When you run Pre-Upgrade Checker, this rule checks whether
the current farm is still undergoing a gradual upgrade. This rule also
checkswhether the current farm still has Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 site
collections that have yet to be upgraded. Additionally,
this rule checks whether the particular server needs upgrade for any reason at
all. Then, this rule suggests you to upgrade these
sites, and complete the gradual upgrade from version 2.0 to version 3.0, before
you try to upgrade the farm from version 3.0 to version 4.0. Here is a sample
of the warning message:
Gradual upgrade is not yet
finalized
The current farm is being upgraded from a previous version, and
the operation has not yet been finalized. If the current farm is upgraded to a
new version, some content from the previous version might be missing.
If you receive this message, you must continue to migrate
the contents from the earlier version of SharePoint products on the
Current upgrade status page. When all the content is migrated, locate the
Finalize upgrade page to complete the upgrade.
Note The Pre-Upgrade Checker ships in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0
Service Pack 2.It is used to assess the server for potential upgrade issues
when you are preparing to upgrade to the next version release of Windows
SharePoint Services, and of SharePoint Server 2007.
