The WindowsInternalDatabaseSite rule in Pre-Upgrade Checker for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Service Pack 2 warns you about the site collections that are hosted on the Windows Internal Database that are larger than or close to 4 GB

INTRODUCTION

The WindowsInternalDatabaseSite rule in Pre-Upgrade Checker for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Service Pack 2 warns you about the site collections in a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 farm that are hosted on the Windows Internal Database. Addtionally, the WindowsInternalDatabaseSite rule warns you about the site collections that are larger than or close to 4 GB.

MORE INFORMATION

The WindowsInternalDatabaseSite rule detects whether site collections are hosted on the Windows Internal Database, and reports any site collections that are larger than or close to 4 GB. The information is displayed in a warning message that resembles the following:

Site Collections within this farm are hosted on Windows Internal Database and are larger than or close to 4 GB in size.

The following site collections are larger than or close to 4GB in size and will require additional administrator intervention to upgrade:
[For Each Site Collection]
<SiteCollection>[Site collection URL]</SiteCollection>
Where: Site collection URL represents a fully qualified site collection URL that uses the default zone URL as the header.

Large site collections force the size of the Windows Internal Database that contains them to be larger than 4 GB. In this case, the database cannot be upgraded. Therefore, you must reduce the size of these site collections to a size that is smaller than 4 GB. Also, you must move these site collections to their own database instead of the Windows Internal Database before upgrading. Alternatively, you can move or migrate the database that contains these site collections to a different SQL database instance before upgrading.

Note Pre-Upgrade Checker ships in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Service Pack 2. Pre-Upgrade Checker is used to assess the server for potential upgrade issues when you are preparing to upgrade to the next version release of Windows SharePoint Services and of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.
