Error message when you use the Add Cluster Member Wizard to add a server in an Application Center 2000 cluster: "0x80070005 Access is denied"

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Add Cluster Member Wizard to add a server in a Microsoft Application Center 2000 cluster, the wizard does not finish successfully. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
0x80070005 Access is denied.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because DCOM is not enabled on the servers in the Application Center 2000 cluster.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps on all the servers in the Application Center 2000 cluster:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type Dcomcnfg.exe, and then press ENTER.
  2. In the console tree, click Component Services.
  3. In the details pane, double-click Computers.
  4. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
  5. Click the Default Properties tab, click to select the Enable Distributed COM on this computer check box, and then click OK.
  6. On the File menu, click Exit.
  7. Restart the server.
