SYMPTOMS

On a computer that is running Microsoft Application Center 2000, you find that the following event is logged in the Application log in Event Viewer:

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE) database size has reached the 2 GB limit.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, reduce the size of the MSDE database. For more information about how to reduce the size of the MSDE database, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

If this issue still occurs, you can disable the MSDE certificate verification. To do this, follow these steps.

Note When you disable the Certificates registry entry, connection issues with MSDE may occur.

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
  1. In Registry Editor, locate the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSAC\MSSQLServer\SuperSocketNetLib
  2. Right-click the Certificates registry entry, and then click Modify.
  3. In the Value data box, type 0 (null), and then click OK.
  4. Close Registry Editor.
