One of the real-time scan jobs may fail because of a memory leak in Forefront Security for SharePoint

SYMPTOMS

One of the real-time scan jobs in Microsoft Forefront Security for SharePoint may fail because of a memory leak.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a memory leak in one of the common logging modules in Forefront Security for SharePoint. When the memory leak occurs, one of the real-time memory processes may crash.

The real-time scan job process that fails should recover on its own. Also, access of hosted files is delayed for files that Forefront Security for SharePoint was scanning. The accessing of hosted files will resume when the real-time scan job process starts again.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install Hotfix Rollup 1 for Forefront Security for SharePoint Service Pack 2.

Note Forefront Security for SharePoint Service Pack 2 must be installed before you install Hotfix Rollup 1 for Forefront Security for SharePoint Service Pack 2.
