This article describes the Microsoft Office
PowerPoint 2007 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated
October 28, 2008.
This article describes the following items about the hotfix package:
- The issues that the hotfix package fixes.
- The prerequisites for installing the hotfix
package.
- Whether you must restart the computer after you install
the hotfix package.
- Whether the hotfix package is replaced by any other

This hotfix package
fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft
Knowledge Base article:
- When you distribute elements horizontally in PowerPoint
2007, some elements may overlap. This problem occurs when the following
conditions are true:
- These elements include lines and other shapes. For
example, these elements include textboxes.
- The lines are drawn manually by using the mouse and
are not perfectly horizontal or perfectly vertical.
This problem does not occur when one of the following
conditions is true:
- You use PowerPoint 2003.
- The lines are drawn by using a macro that guarantees
that the lines are perfectly horizontal or perfectly vertical.
- In PowerPoint 2007, you press and hold the SHIFT while you
drag some grouped lines. When you do this, the grouped lines are extended to
their maximum size.
- You
use the ShadowFormat.Type property to programmatically determine a shadow type
that is created in PowerPoint 2003 and in PowerPoint 2007.
However, the result
that is
returned in PowerPoint 2003 differs from the result that
is returned in PowerPoint 2007. Additionally,
the result in PowerPoint 2007 is always
-2.
- In PowerPoint 2007, you connect elements by using
connectors. When you distribute these elements vertically or horizontally, the
connectors are not reattached to the repositioned elements.
- In PowerPoint 2007, when you type inside a text box, the
text automatically shifts to the left and does not center as you
specified.
