Consider the following scenario. You try to add an agent assignment rule for a domain
in the Agent Assignment and Failover Wizard in the System Center Operations
Manager 2007 operations console. An Active Directory domain name begins with
a numeric digit (for example, 4Orange). In this scenario, you may receive the following error
message:

(SP1) installed to apply this hotfix. This update must be applied to each

- The computer hosts a Microsoft Operations Manager Root Management Server
(RMS)
- The computer hosts a Microsoft Operations Manager Management
Server
Restart requirement
You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this
hotfix.

To extract the files that are
contained in this hotfix, follow these steps:
- Copy the
SystemCenterOperationsManager2007-SP1-KB968082-X86-X64-ENU.MSI file to a
local folder or to an available network shared folder.
- Run the
SystemCenterOperationsManager2007-SP1-KB968082-X86-X64-ENU.MSI file locally on
each applicable computer that meets the predefined criteria.
You can
run the SystemCenterOperationsManager2007-SP1-KB968082-X86-X64-ENU.MSI file
from Windows Explorer or at a command prompt. - When the System Center Operations Manager 2007
Software Update dialog box appears, select the Run Software
Update option.
- When the software update is successfully applied, open a
copy of the Operations Manager console as an Operations Manager administrator
and locate the Administration space.
- Under Device Management, select the
Pending Management node.
- Agents that were deployed by using Automatic or Advanced
discovery appear as Agent Requires Update. Select those agents
and select the Approve action to update those
agents.
Note To run this file on Windows Server 2008, you must run this file at
a command prompt that was run with the Run as
Administrator option. If you do not run this Windows installer file
under an elevated command prompt, the System
Center Operations Manager 2007 Software Update splash screen will not appear, and you will not be able to install this hotfix.
