You cannot edit a ChemDraw drawing after you copy the drawing in an Office 2008 for Mac document and then paste it back into ChemDraw

SYMPTOMS

You paste a ChemDraw drawing into a Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac document. When you copy the drawing in the Office 2008 for Mac document and then paste the drawing back into ChemDraw, you cannot edit the drawing.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do one of the following:
  • Save a copy of the original ChemDraw drawing before you paste it to an Office 2008 for Mac document. If you want to change the drawing, open the original drawing in ChemDraw, and then make the changes. After the changes are finished, paste the changed drawing into your Office 2008 for Mac document.
  • Use Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac. This problem does not occur in Office 2004 for Mac when you copy the drawing in the Office 2004 for Mac document and then paste the drawing back into ChemDraw.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
