An application that uses a complex Excel 2002 solution crashes after you apply the security update that is described in Knowledge Base article 944423

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a computer that has Microsoft Access 2002 or Microsoft Excel 2002 installed.
  • You apply the security update that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
944423 MS08-013: Description of the security update for Office XP: February 12, 2008
  • You run an application that uses a complex Excel 2002 solution that contains many macros and DLLs.
In this scenario, the application crashes.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, apply hotfix 969403. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
969403 Description of the update for Access 2002 (Vbe6.msp): April 27, 2009

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
