Post running PreScan on a SPS 2003 portal and then used the content DB migration methods to migrate / upgrade the site; The links for "My Sites" and "My Links" are not available.
Clicking on the link "My Site", it tries to create a new My Site rather than opening the existing one.
The My Sites in SPS 2003 gets stored under the _SITE database and other profile properties are under the _PROF database.
- Migrate the portal content db.
stsadm -o addcontentdb -url http://servername:port/ -databaseserver dbserver -databasename portal_SITE
- Create a web named something like “mysites†using My Site Host template under the portal
stsadm -o createweb -url http://servername:port/mysites -sitetemplate SPSMSITEHOST -title "MySite Host"
- Restore SSP from the old PROF db:
stsadm -o restoressp -title Restored_SSP -url http://servername:port -ssplogin DOMAIN\Useraccount -mysiteurl http://servername:port/mysites -indexserver indexservername -indexlocation "d:\index†-keepindex -sspdatabaseserver dbserver -sspdatabasename portal_PROF -ssppassword pwd
- Execute IISReset. With the help of SSP admin, check My Site settings, search settings, User profiles to make sure they all look good.
- Next sign is as a user, and click on My Site in portal home page, you are directed to the http://servername:port/personal/userid and when clicked on My Profile (or other users click on my name) they are directed to http://servername:port/mysites/person.aspx?accountname=DOMAIN\userid
(http://servername:port/mysites/person.aspx?accountname=DOMAIN\userid)

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
