Consider
the following scenario:
- On a computer that is running Windows Server 2008,
you install the Distributed File System (DFS) Replication service.
- You configure
this computer
to be a primary
domain controller (PDC)
emulator or a writable domain controller.
- The DFS Replication
is used to perform Domain
System Volume (SYSVOL share)
replication.
In this scenario, the memory usage of the DFS
Replication service keeps increasing. If you monitor the DFS
Replication service by using Performance Monitor
utility (Perfmon.exe), you find
that the
Private Bytes
counter keeps increasing.
Note This issue usually occurs on
the Windows Server 2008-based PDC emulators or on the
writable
domain controllers in a domain that has many read-only domain controllers.
This
problem occurs because the
DFS
Replication service does not free up
some allocated memory during
the SYSVOL share
replication process.
Hotfix information
