The DBCreateWizard tool of System Center Operations Manager 2007 fails on a Windows Server 2008-based computer that has the Windows Internal Database feature installed

SYMPTOMS

On a Windows Server 2008-based computer that has the Windows Internal Database feature installed, an instance of SQL Server that is named %COMPUTERNAME%\MICROSOFT##SSEE is discovered. If the System Center Operations Manager 2007 DBCreateWizard tool tries to create a database on that instance, the tool fails. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

Severity: Error
Message: Database creation failed. The database might have been incompletely created or modified.

System.InvalidOperationException: An error occurred while trying to create the database on your SQL Server. Check your logs for more information.
   at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Setup.DBCreateWizard.Program.LaunchDBCreation()
   at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Setup.DBCreateWizard.SummaryPage.BackgroundThread()

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, select a different instance of SQL Server to install.
