INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

The User Profile Replication Engine tool stops processing user profiles if the User Profile Web service fails for any user profile. The User Profile Web service fails when any user profile property contains special characters.
When you use site variations with broken global navigation inheritance, creating a new Web operation within the hierarchy causes SharePoint end-users to experience slower response times during the operation.
If you enable binary large object caching on a site collection intermittently, you receive "File not found" errors when the system tries to open already cached files during the BLOBCache automatic background cleanup procedure. After you apply the hotfix, cached files during the background cleanup procedure are served from the database.
When you use Forms Based Authentication (FBA) to control access to a SharePoint Server 2007 farm, you receive a stack overflow that is caused by an issue in the exception handler.
A Shared Services Provider administrator edits the About me property or the Picture property to make the property display "Only me." However, these properties continue to be visible when the profile owner sets their As Seen By option to "Everyone," "My Colleagues," "My Workgroup" or "My Manager" on their own Person.aspx page.
You create a custom list form. The custom list form contains a Business Data Catalog (BDC) column. In this scenario, you cannot save the value of the BDC column.
After you install the 2007 Office system cumulative update that was released in October 2008 or later versions of cumulative updates, you cannot obtain the correct status on the Manage Search Service page for the following items:
- Crawling status
- Items in Index
- Propagation status
Instead, the status of these items is always "Retrieving."
